     Greetings and welcome Brethren to your August Trestleboard. What an amazing month we have had, and we started off the month of July with Worshipful Brother Chris Swihart receiving the Hillman Award. Right Worshipful Don McAndrews was on hand to present the award and Worshipful Brother Chris commented on the demanding work that it takes to achieve this award and that it was the arduous work of all the Brothers that make this a possibility.

     On the very next day several of the brothers joined our sisters from the Wimodausis Chapter #106 Order of the Eastern Star for a night of fun at the Potomac National ball park. Everyone in attendance had an exciting time enjoying the hotdogs, beer and all the other concessions possible. In recognition of the Worthy Matron Jean Wertman and Worthy Patron Tom Costis bringing over 20 people to the ballpark. The Potomac Nationals organization gave us all Potomac Nationals ball caps and a group picture with Uncle Slam! We closed out the night with an awesome firework display and the young ladies from our Rainbow Assembly running the bases.

     Our next major event turned out to be spectacular which was the Grand Master’s Official Visit to Districts 2,3, and 4. These districts combined to host the Grand Master, Most Worshipful Gary Wallace Taylor to an all-inclusive barbeque picnic held right at our Lodge. All the games were set up, but the weather did not really want to cooperate, but the DeMolay boys did not let that stop them and they played in the rain anyhow.  Over 150 people that were on hand still had a fantastic time and they did not allow the weather to dampen their spirits. After the Most Worshipful’s comments had concluded, our Right Worshipful Don McAndrews and the other District Deputies presented the Most Worshipful with two checks for the Masonic Home of Virginia, that totaled to $1000. All three Districts worked extremely hard to make this event the success that it was, and they are to be commended for their dedication.

     We closed out the month with our very own Manassas Assembly #13 International Order of Rainbow for Girls having their Installation of Officers, in which we saw Kate Balint installed as the new Worthy Advisor. Brethren this is an awe-inspiring event to watch these young ladies and we had over 70 people present. Many of you may not know this, but our Manassas Assembly won or placed in 19 out of the 22 competitions/awards, and then we won the “Assembly of The Year” award at Grand Assembly in June. We are the largest assembly in the state and for the very first time we will have one of our very own, Kaitlyn Gigi Costis chosen to be the next Grand Worthy Advisor. The arduous work of all these young ladies needs to be applauded and I am so very Proud of all of them!
