A message from the Worshipful Master
As we continue with this year’s monthly education program. This month’s program is going to be presented by a visiting Worshipful from Maryland. Worshipful John Ertel is from Scouter’s lodge #236 in Cockeysville, Maryland. John is a retired professor with a Ph.D. in Physics where he taught at the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis. Worshipful John will be presenting a program on the Pythagorean theorem in masonry. Our ancient friend and brother Pythagoras spent most of all his life dedicated to masonry and mathematics. John will help us understand just how these two intersect and unravel some of these secrets. Moreover, John also is a Grand Inspector in Maryland and a past master as well. I am so looking forward to hearing John’s talk and I am continuing to try and bring new and exciting programs to the lodge. Everyone joins masonry for their own personal reasons, but as we progress in the craft we to have to grow in our own personal ways. Seeking the light of education about Freemasonry will help each one of us grow at the pace we so choose.
In a continuance of this theme I want to call your attention to a very special day coming up. On Monday March 5th, the Brothers of Manasseh Lodge, as well as several brothers from around the Commonwealth will be gathering at the Gainesville Regal movie theater to watch a very special premier of the masonic movie “33 and Beyond: The Royal Art of Freemasonry”. The director of the film, Brother Johnny Royal, will be on hand prior to the start of the film to answers any questions. So many movies are out there about Freemasonry and the like, but Brothers I can’t begin to say how excited I am about this film. I truly think that this film is going to show Freemasonry in such a positive light that it will cause an interest in Freemasonry like never before. By some chance if you have not heard about this already, please feel free to come out and join us at the movies.
The month of March is action packed for the lodge as always with several events coming up. On March 10th the Order of the Eastern Star Wimodausis Chapter #106 will be having their annual installation of Officers starting at 2:00 p.m. The incoming Worthy Matron will be Sister Jean Wertman and her Worthy Patron will be Brother Tom Costis, so come on out and help us celebrate this special day. The following week we have the annual Charles Armistead Sinclair Area Ritual School to be held on the 16th and 17th of March at Henry Lodge. Our lodge will be responsible for the second section of the Master Masons degree, so come on out and see some great ritual from around the district. This is a wonderful way for any brother to just sit on the sidelines and brush up on your ritual.
A very big event is also taking place on the 17th of March at 4:00pm, The Honorary DeMolay degree is being offered to every Master Mason who would like to become an Honorary DeMolay. For all Master Masons that are interested the degree fee will be a hundred dollars and the event will kick off at 4:00 pm with the initiatory degrees and then a break for dinner followed by the DeMolay degree. Then on the 24th of March our very own Prince William chapter Order of the DeMolay will be hosting their second installation of Officers. Preston Hamrick will be installed as the new Senior Master Councilor of Prince William Chapter. These young men will have their installation starting at 2:00 pm and all are welcome and encouraged to attend. Our Chapter is growing and for the second straight year in a row, the chapter has won the award for the overall growth in the state of Virginia.
Following the installation will be a Mystery Dinner hosted by our very own Rainbow Assembly #13. Caught your curiosity? Yes, I said a Mystery dinner, and if you want to know what that is, then you should attend this fun filled event. From what the young ladies have informed me, they will bring out a sample/samples of food to you, and then you will have to guess what the main course is going to be. Our Worthy Advisor Katie Dawson will be hosting this event as a fundraiser to help raise money for the Supreme Assembly that will be taking place in Hampton, Virginia at the end of July. Virginia Rainbow has been chosen to host the entire world right here in Hampton, Virginia. This is an extremely high honor and a daunting task for all of Virginia Rainbow, because we will be honoring Mom Susan Rennagel who currently is the Supreme Worthy Advisor. One of the Grand Master’s goals this year is to support our masonic youth because it can be a solid foundation to help build masonry. So, this event, combined with our DeMolay installation is going to be an awesome day for the youth of our lodge, so let’s come out and support them and have some fun doing it!
A final Congratulations goes out to Manasseh Lodge’s very own Grand Royal Matron and Patron, Honored Lady Debbie and Sir Knight Carl Dunn, who just last month were installed as the Head of Amaranth in Virginia. Thank you to all of Destiny Court members that were on hand in Williamsburg to help support Debbie and Carl, and to make this a very special day for them. This is a very distinguished and high honor, so please be sure to congratulate the both of them. Well done Debbie and Carl!
As we wrap up the following month a great big thank you goes out to Brother Doyle Meadows for coordinating the St. Paddy’s Day celebration. A lot of effort went into make this dance the tremendous success it was. From the creation of the flyer, to the organization of the event every aspect was handled by Brother Doyle. A tremendous amount of time and effort was given by Doyle, so that everyone would have a great time. I’m not quite sure if the lodge has ever had a live Irish band before in the fellowship hall but it was definitely a blast, and everyone had fun. Brother Doyle, "Thank You” so much for all your demanding work in putting this all together.
A heads up to everyone at the end of April we will be having a called communication that will take place on the 21st. This special day will be a joint communication between all the lodges of District 4 and the Civil War Lodge of Research #1865. This magnificent event will be held on the Manassas Battlefield with a special luncheon to follow back at Manasseh Lodge. The District will also host a Blood Drive at the lodge as well that very same day. So, I will keep you all posted with further details to follow.
Flags will be flown this month on behalf of Frederick H. Baerenz, a 60-year Masonic Veteran.
Fraternally,
Clarence H. Nidell
Worshipful Master
