A message from the Worshipful Master
Welcome Brethren, family and friends to our February Trestleboard. As I stated in the January Trestleboard, we are off to an amazing start this year. At the January stated communication, we had over fifty brethren on hand to help us welcome our very own Right Worshipful Don L. McAndrews. The Right Worshipful was on hand to make his Official Visit to our lodge and bring us greetings on behalf of the Grand Master Most Worshipful Gary W. Taylor. The Right Worshipful's program outlined the Grand Masters biography, theme, and expectations on having a successful year. The Right Worshipful continued by complementing our Lodge on the success of our youth programs, the Rainbow Girls and the DeMolay. During the stated I also had the pleasure of presenting certificates to Brother George Harrington, Jr. and his son George Harrington III their Life Memberships in Perpetuity. After the meeting was over Right Worshipful Carl Dunn pointed out to me that an amazing feat just occurred at our lodge. We had in attendance five sets of Father and Sons. We had the Harringtons, the Costises, the Workmans, the McAndrews and the Sommers. Our lodge is truly blessed to have such a heritage.
I would like to personally thank Michael Thornton our lodge musician for playing guitar at the stated meeting. I want to pass on to him that I have had a tremendous number of compliments from the brethren and that it was great to have music back in the lodge. Excellent Job Michael! I also want to say, “Thank you” to our lodge elves who helped take down all the Christmas decorations, plus helped to re-arrange the seating in the fellowship hall. Come on out to the lodge and check it out, we feel that the new arrangement will make it more conducive for Fellowship. In addition to all this great news the lodge had a 9-foot Christmas tree donated by Worshipful Cliff Blasius, which next year will prominently be displayed in the lodge room. Thank you once again Worshipful Cliff!
Congratulations to our Manassas Assembly #13 Worthy Advisor Katie Dawson! Katie was installed as the new Worthy Advisor of the assembly on January 13th. Katie’s whole family has been around masonry and our lodge for a very long time. Katie is the oldest daughter of Brother Henry and Robin Dawson. The Dawson and Brown family are very proud of her and I am sure that she will have a spectacular term. Katie’s charity this term will be Supreme Assembly 2018 and raising money for the Supreme Temple, which needs despite repair to the Temple. On March 24th right after the DeMolay installation of Officers, the assembly will be hosting a Mystery Dinner? Yes, that’s right I said a Mystery Dinner! The only way to find out just what this event is, is to build up your courage, buy your ticket and attend!!! Our youth groups are doing some awesome things here at the lodge. The Rainbow girls in June will have a lodge cleanup and the DeMolay boys will be fixing up the softball field and Volley ball pit as well. Way to go and keep up the excellent work!
Brethren, this year I have made it a goal of mine to try and provide some educational programs at each stated. In conjunction with our lodge educational officer Brother John Phillips we have set out to do just that. At the February stated meeting Brother John will be presenting a program on the Dedication page of Andersons Constitution. Curious? I can assure you that this program will be just amazing and riveting. Each month I will try to let you know ahead of time what the topic will be. I can tell you that I am looking forward to learning new things about Masonry this entire year, and I can’t wait to see what all these programs have to offer! Brother Joseph Martinez and other guest speakers will be on the docket as the year goes on. So, Brethren come on out and see for yourself just what these programs are all about.
Brethren, I want to call your attention to a very special event taking place this month. On the weekend of February 16th and the 17th, 2108. Manasseh Lodge’s very own Right Worshipful Carl H. Dunn Jr. and his wife Honored Lady Debbie Dunn are going to be installed as the Grand Royal Matron and Grand Royal Patron of Amaranth in Virginia. This is an extreme high honor and I would like to see us all come out and support them. This open installation is on that Saturday the 17th at 7:30 pm at the Fort Magruder hotel in Williamsburg. The reception will follow right after, both Debbie and Carl have worked extremely hard to represent the lodge and Destiny Court in the most positive manner. I feel that there is no better way to say, “Thank You” then to show up in large numbers, enjoy some fellowship and have a wonderful time.
A congratulations also goes out to the newly installed Royal Matron and Royal Patron and their officers. Honored Lady Tarren Smarr and Sir Knight Michael Thornton were installed on January 20th. I’m looking forward to an exciting year with the both and the rest of the Destiny Court.
As your Worshipful Master, from time to time I have had the distinct honor and privilege of presenting or presiding over different ceremonies. I would like to say Thank you to all of you for supporting me last month. I was given the privilege of hosting a very special surprise 90th Birthday celebration for our great friend and Brother Gene Harlow. Our lodge was packed with Family and friends to celebrate this momentous occasion and on behalf of the Lodge, Gene was presented with a small token of our appreciation. This will definitely be one of the highlights of my year and feel free to congratulate Gene on this occasion.
Flags will be flown this month on Behalf of Frederick H. Baerenz
Sincerely and Fraternally,
