A message from the Worshipful Master

Welcome Brethren, family and friends to your January Trestleboard. We are off to an amazing start this year. In December we hosted a dual installation in which we saw Worshipful Bennet R. Hart return for an encore performance as the Worshipful Master of the Civil War Lodge of Research #1865. This was followed up by our very own Lodge’s installation, in which the trust and care of the lodge was placed in my hands. This is an extreme honor and I thank you so much for allowing me to serve as your Worshipful Master and giving me this distinct privilege. A great big thank you must go out to our outgoing Master Worshipful Chris A. Swihart whom served for two straight years. Thank You so much Chris! A big “Thank You” goes out our Manassas Assembly #13 International Order of Rainbow for Girls and the Prince William Chapter Order of the DeMolay, who were on hand to assist in the installation ceremony. These amazing youth groups are always there to support, serve, and give back to their sponsoring bodies. My personal Thanks to Miss Kaitlyn Costis, Worthy Advisor and Preston Hamrick, Master Senior Warden for their individual roles they played in making this so successful.

We followed up this momentous event with our annual lodge Christmas party. This year’s party was a smashing success with a hundred and one people, yes that’s right 101 in attendance. Santa came to the lodge to hand out presents to the eighty children who showed up and boy was Santa tired at the end of the day. Everyone was on board to sing Christmas carols and make Merry, while waiting for Santa to arrive. Right Worshipful Bill Costis sat in front of our virtual fireplace and did an awesome job reading ‘A Night before Christmas” to all the children, even the big ones. He kept them entertained and occupied as we listen for the reindeer hoofs to arrive at the Lodge. Brother Doyle Meadows who was the event chairman is to be commended for all his arduous work in pulling off such a successful party. Thank you, Brother Doyle. In addition to this demanding work, several other Brothers and their wives are to be thanked as well. Brother Phil and his wife Karilynn, Brother Joe and his wife Barb, Brother Tom and his wife Priscilla, Brother Doug and his wife Tammy, and Brother Eric Sommers. So many of our lodge family really went above and beyond to see that not one person went hungry or without a gift. Pitching in here and there and I cannot Thank You enough! Wow what a way to start out the year,

As we continue, this month is extremely important for our Lodge because it is the Official Visit of the District Deputy Grand Master, Right Worshipful Donald Leo McAndrews. Right Worshipful Don has a very distinct honor of being a member of seven lodges in the district. Let us all show up in force to support and welcome him to his lodge. A special menu is being prepared and served by our Rainbow girls just for this special occasion, so come on out and enjoy some great food, fellowship and brotherhood.

Last month the lodge had the distinct pleasure of presenting Brother Fred Baerenz with his 60-year Masonic veteran certificate and emblem. It was truly an honor and Brother Baerenz commented on what masonry and our lodge has meant to him over the years. Brother Fred spoke of his early years and his commitment to the youth groups the DeMolay and the Rainbow girls.

As always in January we seem to be extremely busy and our lodge is one of the most active in the district.  We have several installations for the appendant bodies, to begin with for those that might not be aware the Kena Shrine is possibly relocating to the Manassas area and will be our neighbor. I feel it is important to Welcome the Shrine and that they will bring a new dynamic to our Manassas area. Please make sure to check out the Dates to Remember section as we start out this year with several things that we can attend and support.

On Friday at 7:30pm at the lodge will be having Brother Steven Smith return his Master Masons Catechism. Then on the following day at 2 pm our very own Manassas Assembly #13 will be having their open Installation of Officers. Our Assembly has grown to over thirty girls.  Miss Katie Dawson will be installed as the new Worthy Advisor with this auspicious occasion followed up by a Dinner and Dance for all!  We are having a D.J. and everything and this will be wonderful time for our masonic youth.

We wrap up the month with the open installation of Officers for Destiny Court #14 Order of the Amaranth on January 20th at 2:00 pm. Miss Tarren Smarr and Michael Thornton will be going in as our new Royal Matron and Royal Patron, so let’s join them and celebrate this exciting time for our lodge. The Finally event for January is Bethel Guardian #55 will be having their Installation of Officers at our lodge.

Sincerely and Fraternally,

Clancy Nidell
Worshipful Master
