A message from the Worshipful Master

Spring is here and the new cycle of life begins. We are now sowing the seeds for sustaining our lives this year and for the rest of our lives. Take time to get into your garden of life and sow the future you want to have for yourselves and your family. Grow your future and build the foundations for our Craft.

I would like to take this time to update the brethren on two of our brothers. Brother Penn Jones broke his femur and has been on the mend. He is home now as he continues his recovery. Worshipful Brother John Mauk, Past Master of Manasseh Lodge in 1980 is suffering from extreme dementia. Let’s us take the time to give both brothers our thoughts and prayers along with all our other brothers and their families who may be in distress.

The C. A Sinclair Area School was a great time to see each of the lodges to exemplify one of the degrees.  The hard work of the brethren from our practices showed in their performances. We conferred the Entered Apprentice degree for Brother Steven Smith. Brother Phil Sommers served as Worshipful Master and Brother Tom Costis sat as Senior Warden and Brother Joe Martinez as Senior Deacon. We should congratulate these brothers for moving up and doing outstanding work in conferring the Entered Apprentice degree. All three brothers will make an excellent Worshipful Master when their time comes to sit in the East. This month our District Class will be at Hay Market Lodge No. 313. If it within the length of your cable tow, come out on Mondays to participate as we practice and prepare the line officers in their advancement through the line.

We will have our lodge annual Easter Party on April 15th at 1:00 p.m. Brother Joseph Martinez has already sent out the invitations but if you have not received it, we have the details posted on the lodge’s website and Facebook. This event is open to our family and friends so be sure to tell them. We will have food, fun and games before we send the kids out to hunt for Easter eggs. If you would like to help, we are setting up in the morning and could use the help with decorating and stuffing eggs. Since we open this up to our friends and family, we have a sign up for anyone wanting to provide food items for the party.

On March 25th, Manasseh Lodge hosted the official visit of Most Excellent Daniel H. Surface to Capitular Districts 1 and 17. The companions from Manassas Chapter No 81 represented our District among with the other chapters in receiving our Grand High Priest. The chapter also participated in the one day degree conferral back on February 18 at John Dove Chapter No. 21. At this degree festival, we exalted Companion Wyatt Hamrick to the ranks of Royal Arch Mason. The chapter also conferred the Most Excellent Master degree for three brothers within the district during the March Convocation. The chapter is also working on fund raising for its scholarship program and Alzheimer’s Research drive. Contact Excellent Clancy Nidell if you would like to help with either worthy cause.

The Manassas Rainbow Girls Assembly No. 13 competed in Grand Assembly competition in February and did quite well. Our Worthy Advisor, Ms. Vanessa Hamrick and our Assembly is hosting a Southern Country Dinner fund raiser on April 8th.  The dinner will be delightful and will help our girls as they prepare to raise funds for the upcoming Grand Assembly in July. The girls will be putting out more flyers for more information. On April 22, in conjunction with Ashburn Assembly, they will receive Ms. Rachel Murray, Grand Worthy Advisor for her official visit. Your attendance at these events are an investment is our Masonic future.

Dad Wyatt Hamrick is working with our Prince William DeMolay Chapter to develop some fund raisers. Our boys are looking forward to Grand Conclave in July but will need some help in deferring the cost for them to attend. When we get more information, we will post it. Let us give our time and support to the boys so they will grow and be strong members of our Masonic family.

On March 11th, Wimodausis Chapter No.106 Order of the Eastern Star held their installation of officers. The installation was attended by many of our Masonic family members. The new Worthy Matron and Worthy Patron are dedicating this year to those Past Matrons and Past Patrons who continue to dedicate their time, love and support to their order. They are also dedicating this year to our military and to those service members who have given their life in service to our country. We wish all the officers well in their new positions. Wimodausis Chapter No. 106 will also be preparing a delightful meal for us at our April Stated communication so come out to thank them and have a wonderful dinner.

Participation in each of these events shows our commitment to our Masonic families and strengthens our bonds between the lodges, assemblies, chapters and courts.  If within the length of your cable tows, come out and join in with celebrating the beginning of their terms.

If interested in having flags flown in memory of someone, please see the Lodge Secretary or myself. The cost is $200 for three months.

Our work is never done and is a constant challenge to live up to our obligations. Without faith in our God and the commitment to the principles we live by, our way of life would not be as it is now. We must work together as family so that we can achieve anything, make a difference and set a good example. We are a “Force of Good” for all those lives we touch.

Sincerely and Fraternally,

Christopher A. Swihart
