Manasseh Stated Communication Changes

A message from the Worshipful Master

GREETINGS FROM THE EAST

The July Stated Communication was held jointly with the Civil War Lodge of Research No. 1864 on Saturday, July 11th at the Manassas Battlefield. The rain that was scheduled ended early and as a result the Low Vale Joint Communication was very successful. Manasseh and the CWLOR Officers shared responsibilities and 57 Brethren were in attendance. I presented the program which was on Military Lodges in the Civil War that were chartered by the Grand Lodge of Virginia, specifically, the Camp Manassas Lodge which was affiliated with the 10th Virginia Infantry Regiment. Thanks to all, especially W Clancy Nidell who helped put this idea into reality and to all the officers and Brethren who supported this unique event. Special thanks to W Pete Jensen of the CWLOR who was steadfast in his support. RW Donald Josepth Kerr, the Grand Purveyor, represented the Grand Master, Reese Edward Carroll, Jr., and our District Deputy Grand Master, RW Edward Allen Wade, was also present.

Special thanks to B Bill Rieck, Sr., who researched and made possible the setting up of a special memorial table for the POWs and MIAs in our dining room. He coordinates the Lodge Veterans Committee and deserves a word of thanks when you see him.

It is my sad duty to report that five of our Brethren have been called to lay down their earthly working tools and report to the Celestial Lodge above. Thanks to RW Bill Costis and W "Doc" Mitchell for leading the services that were held locally. The families and Brethren expressed many comments on your ability to help families cope with the losses of the fine Brothers:

We will present a Masonic Community Builder's Award and a number of 25-year and 50-year Masonic Veterans' Awards. In addition, we will also present our 2015 Manasseh Lodge Scholarships to five outstanding students. Our program will have presentations by the York Rite and Shrine. August will also be Wardens' Night-- so come see your next year's line in action!

If anyone knows of a Brother that is "Ill or in Distress", please let me know or contact RW Linwood Lee Holbrook, Jr.

Those who wish to have flags flown, please see the Lodge Secretary or myself. The cost is $200.00 for three months.
