A message from the Worshipful Master

GREETINGS FROM THE EAST

Manasseh Lodge No. 182 had a fun filled Annual Strawberry Night on May 30th!! Most Worshipful Reese Edward Carroll, Jr., (Together, We Can Make A Difference) and his Lady Mary arrived after the Wreath Laying Ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery and all enjoyed the company and the Most Worshipful’s comments!!! Thanks to B Chris Swihart (SW) for organizing it and for the great meal provided by Destiny Court #14, Order of the Amaranth. Additional thanks to our Rainbow Assembly #13, who did a great job helping and Boy Scout Troop 670 for the presentation of our National Colors.

Remember the July Stated Communication will be held jointly with the Civil War Lodge of Research No. 1864 on Saturday, July 11th at the Manassas Battlefield at 10 a.m. near the Stuart Hill Center at the western end of the battlefield (intersection of US 29 and Pageland Lane). Dress will be casual. If the sun is in your eyes and you are not in the shade, hats may be worn (per DDGM). Bring a lawn chair. Restrooms are nearby as is parking. In event of rain, the Communication will be at Manasseh Lodge. Breakfast ($5.00) will be provided by the Order of the Amaranth in support of Diabetes (thanks to Debbie). Breakfast will be served at Manasseh Lodge from 7:00 - 9:00 a.m. The early time is so the combined officers can eat early and get over to the battlefield to set up.  A flyer will be sent out via email or contact one of the officers.

The May Stated held a full program. Thanks Troop 1188 and B Chuck Wilkinson for putting on the Flag Retirement Ceremony…very impressive!! W John “Doc” Mitchell delivered a great talk on the ACACIA – we all learned a lot..Thanks!!

Thanks to everyone who came out for the Child ID at the June 6th Train Day. The weather cooperated and 285 young people received their cards !! Thanks especially to B Rob McDaniel; W Clancy Nidell and the Rainbow Girls; and B Terry Fearnley and the Sheriff’s Office!!! All in all….a great day!!

On June 10th Manasseh Lodge presented Citizenship Awards to Meredith W. Seaberg at Metz Middle School and Jackie Hertz from Mayfield Middle School. They are very special students and contribute to their friends, their classmates and to the community. Thanks to B Rob McDaniel for coordinating and WB Bill Costis for arranging for the plaques. Special appreciations to WB Clancy Nidell and WB “Doc” Mitchell for their assistance with the presentations.

The Rainbow Girls had a BBQ with Moon Bounce and Games on June 13th, hot…hot…hot. Everyone had loads of fun and new prospects got a great opportunity to learn about this super youth program. Congrats Gigi and the whole Assembly!!

Masonic Lodges of the Commonwealth of Virginia dedicate themselves to the two Holy Saints John. June is the month for St. John the Baptist. The Feast of St. John the Baptist is celebrated on June 24th and in 1717 the Grand Lodge of England was formed on that date. (We have been invited to England to demonstrate the Master Masons’ Degree on the 300th anniversary in 2017.) In accordance with our commitment to attend the St. John’s Sunday church services, this year we celebrated and attended on Sunday, June 14th at the Reformed Presbyterian Church of Manassas. Thanks WB John Stallings III for coordinating.

Congratulations are in order for B Craig Brady and Leann’s son Trevor. He was installed as Master Councilor of the Occoquan DeMolay. All the best in your term!!!

Manasseh Lodge raised one new Master Mason this month – Brother Wyatt Hamrick!! Congratulations!! In addition, Brother David Weese affiliated with Manasseh Lodge. Welcome!!

If anyone knows of a Brother that is “Ill or in Distress,” please let me know or contact RW Linwood Lee Holbrook, Jr. In that vein, please stop by or call WB Jim Tedder as he has taken a turn for the worse. Our thoughts are with you WB Jim!!

Those who wish to have flags flown, please see the Lodge Secretary or myself. The cost is $200.00 for three months.

Everyone have a great and safe 4th of July !!!

Fraternally,

Bennett R. Hart
