A message from the Worshipful Master

GREETINGS FROM THE EAST

Welcome Brethren and Family to our December Trestleboard. I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and hope that you all have a wondrous and happy holiday season. May God bless you all and bestow his blessings upon you and our Masonic Families. We start off this festive holiday season with a lodge decorating party to take place on the 29th of November at 10 a.m. Our Lodge Elves will have on hand some hot chocolate and warm chocolate chip cookies for those who are willing to come help decorate. Our Rainbow Girls will be having a two day gift wrapping extravaganza starting on Black Friday, November 28th. The hours will be from 9 to 3 each day. Our Rainbow Girls will be willing to wrap all your Christmas gifts that you have just tirelessly shopped for and help to alleviate the hassle of wrapping them yourself. The girls will charge a small nominal fee for this service as a fundraiser. In addition to this, our Rainbow Girl's Assembly has set up a "Toys for Tots" drive in cooperation with the United States Marine Corp. The drop off box is right inside the lodge door. Anyone wishing to drop off a toy should know that it must be new and in its original packaging.

Brethren, last month the Grand Lodge of Virginia held its Annual Communication and elected our new Grand Master, Most Worshipful Reese Edward Carroll, Jr. His theme is "Together, We Can Make a Difference." Our Grand Master is correct, even the smallest of things can have an impact and hae a ripple effect into each and everyone's life. Truly, together, we can make a difference, all we have to do is try. While the Grand Lodge was in sesstion they recognized some of those individuals who have made a difference in their districts. Only four District Deputy Grand Masters were recognized for their outstanding work this past year. I bring this to your attention because our very own Right Worshipful Carl Hampton Dunn, Jr. was one of those individuals. Carl was chosen to receive the Grand Master's Award of Excellence for his service and contributions to Masonry during 2014. Brethren, when you get a chance, please help me and congratulate Right Worshipful Carl on this accomplishment. Our Lodge is very blessed in having Master Masons who continue to dedicate themselves to our gentle craft. Manasseh Lodge is very proud to have one of its very own placed in a position of trust and confidence. Our very own Worshipful Donald Leo McAndrews has been installed as the Most Excellent Grand High Priest of Royal Arch Masons in Virginia. This District honor has only happened for our lodge two other times and required an endless amount of work to be able to achieve this. So, my Brethren, let us congratulate these hard working Masons when we see them.

The state of the lodge is a good one with our lodge growing in membership. We have added seven new members this year and one Worshipful Master from a "Northern Jurisdiction." When you're at lodge take the time to meet and welcome Brother Chris Nestor to his new lodge, he is a great guy and a Mason's Mason. As some of you may know our Stationed Chairs (the 3 big ones) in the lodge were in desperate need of repair. The seats themselves were dry rotting and the frames were breaking. However, Brother Rob McDaniel and Brother Doug Dulaney safely transported them to the Lynchburg Upholstery and Furniture Repair Shop. Brother Rob's Father has been expertly repairing and restoring furniture for over thirty years. Wow, is all I can say! Please come by the lodge and check out the work that has been done, they look fantastic. A big "Thank You" goes out to Brothers Rob and Doug for their effort.

Brethren, Family, and Friends, as we close out this year, let us not forget that our Lodge's elections will be held at this month's Stated Communication. With that being said, it has been my distinct honor and pleasure to have served as your Worshipful Master of Manasseh Lodge. I am eternally grateful forever for the opportunity to have served you and I thank you for having entrusted me with such a responsibility. On an ending note, I would like to take the time to thank each and every one of you for all the endless support that you have given to me all year long. "Thank You."

Brethren, please be advised that the January Stated Communication has been moved from January 2 to January 9 at 7:30 p.m, This will also be the Official Visit of our District Deputy Grand Master, Right Worshipful Edward Allen Wade. I can think of no better way to support our new District Deputy Grand Master than to show up in great numbers.

Flags will be flown this month courtesy of James C Tedder.

Fraternally,

Clarence H. Nidell
Worshipful Master
